アメリカ合衆国の作家、ジャーナリスト、コラムニスト。毒舌ゆえに「Bitter Bierce」(辛辣なビアス)と呼ばれた。著書は『悪魔の辞典』『アウル・クリーク橋の一事件』『豹の眼』『死の診断』『マカーガー峡谷の秘密』『修道士と絞刑人の娘』『悪魔の寓話』『いのちの半ばに』『よみがえる悪夢』『兵士たち、幽霊たち』等。
