アメリカ合衆国出身の作曲家、音楽理論家、芸術家、哲学者。実験音楽家として、前衛芸術全体に影響を与えた。著書は『サイレンス』『小鳥たちのために』『音楽の零度――ジョン・ケージの世界』等。
