ジョルジュ・ブラック

[1882.5.13 - 1963.8.31]

フランスの画家。セーヌ川沿いの町アルジャントゥイユで、ペンキ屋・装飾画家の家に生まれる。ルアーブルの美術学校、パリのアカデミー・アンベールで学び、印象派・野獣派を経たのち、ピカソとともにキュビスムを創始。共同作業に取り組むなどし、その代表的画家とされる。第一次大戦へ従軍によりピカソと離れ、新古典主義へ転向。落ち着いた静物画を多数製作した。代表作は「壜とコップ」「ギターを持つ女」「カフェバー」など。著書に、『昼と夜 ジョルジュ・ブラックの手帖』がある。
