レオニード・ブレジネフの名言
ソ連の政治家。ウクライナのディネプロペトロフスクで生まれる。青年時代から共産党活動に参加し、徐々に党内で昇進していく。1952年にはソビエト連邦共産党中央委員会政治局員となり、1964年から1982年まで同党の書記長を務めた。彼の指導の下、ソビエト連邦は冷戦の最中、米ソデタントと呼ばれる一時的な緊張緩和の時期を経験する。しかし、同時に経済の停滞や官僚制度の増大といった問題も顕在化し、西側諸国との技術や経済での差が拡大した。彼の時代はしばしば「ブレジネフの停滞」とも評され、後のペレストロイカへの動きの原点ともされる。内政では、反体制派や人権活動家に対する弾圧が強化された。著書や演説では社会主義の確立と発展、平和の維持と拡大を強調していたが、実際の政策はしばしばこれとは異なるものであった。著作に『回想』がある。
