ウンベルト・ボッチョーニの名言
イタリアの画家、彫刻家。ローマの美術アカデミーで学んだ後、パリに移住し、印象派、ポスト印象派のスタイルを模倣。ミラノへ移住して詩人マリネッティに出会い、機械文明を賛美し、伝統の破壊を主張する未来主義（未来派）の思想に共鳴。セベリーニらと共に具象美術の束縛からの自由を唱えた「未来主義画家宣言」に署名し、未来派運動の中心的存在となる。その後、彫刻に転じ、運動と時間の要素を彫刻に導入する試みを実践。未来派の戦争賛美的傾向のゆえに第一次世界大戦に従軍するも、訓練中の落馬により死去。代表作に『空間における壜の展開』『空間における連続性の唯一の形態』等がある。著作には『未来派絵画と彫刻（造形的ダイナミズム）』がある。
